The government of burma advises tourists that souvenirs are subject to export restrictions. souvernirs and gems purchased from diplomatic stores or hotel gift shops may be exported provided a receipt voucher is presented. souvenirs purchased from street vendors may cause problems to export. currency exchange: compulsory exchange of usd$300.00 or equivalent in pounds sterling is required on entry for: myanmar expatriates on social/family visits
All entry visa holders /with the exception of multiple journey visa holders
Those entering myanmar at invitation of or associated with local foreign embassy personnel and u.n. staff

Currency exchange exemptions:
Persons on organized tour or cruise ship
Child under 12 years.
